Children do best in life when they grow up with both a mother and father who are actively involved in their lives in positive ways. Moms and dads parent in different ways. You can get involved at the beginning of the pregnancy by:

  • Going to prenatal care appointments
  • Going to childbirth classes
  • Helping to find a doctor for your baby
  • Helping mom choose healthy foods
  • Going on a walk with mom or offering her a back rub
  • Helping to get things ready to bring your baby home

After your baby is born, you can:

  • Care for your baby by changing diapers, giving the bath, changing their clothes or burping.
  • Bring your baby to mom for breastfeeding.
  • Take your baby on walks.
  • Do laundry, clean the house, and make meals.
  • Spend time just holding your baby.
  • As your baby grows, he or she will look to you for care, love and fun.
